【公式ページ】1052年、藤原頼通によって京都府宇治市に開かれた寺院で、鳳凰を屋上に戴く鳳凰堂（国宝）には仏師・定朝作の阿弥陀如来像、周りには52体の雲中供養菩薩像が音楽を奏しています。壁扉画、日本三名鐘の一つといわれる梵鐘とともに国宝を多く所蔵しています。平等院蓮、桜、紅葉、藤棚など四季折々の草花が楽しめる観光名所です。
