座落在海拔2274公尺之阿里山山嶺，是台灣唯一在高山上最具有歷史的飯店。原係木造二層樓房，約民國 7 年間日人建造，後於民國71年改建為三層樓之飯店，有鑑於觀光事業日益發展，本飯店為迎接全新之旅遊時代，及提昇飯店服務品質，特於民國87年全面裝潢，並增建飯店各項設施。
